It is the vital centre of the city. Triangular and elongated, porticoed all around its perimeter, it has been the site of the market and the houses of the richest guilds since the Middle Ages. Bulls were and still are run in it during the great solemnities. In its centre is a small bull on top of a slender column, which is one of the emblems of the city.
